Polishing

When everybody goes to the dentist to get their teeth cleaned they think that the cleaning part happens when we rubber cup polish the teeth. That is not true. The cleaning occurs when we use our hand instruments to scale build-up off of the teeth. The polishing is just that, a polish, AFTER we hand scale the build-up off. The latest scientific research suggests that polishing is only good occassionally for teeth with heavy stain. So, if your teeth are pretty clean you can choose to skip the rubber cup polish and ask your hygienist to show you the proper way to brush your theeth instead. Then you can create that same fresh, clean feeling you get after going to the dentist every time you brush!! Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
