First Day of the LAST Semester

This morning I saw a nice Class 5. I got to do my Nitrous PE and my Caries Risk Assessment (CRA) which was good. My patient was really excited about the results of his CRA, he wanted to run all of the pH tests and stuff himself. He ended up having a low to moderate risk for caries.
In the afternoon my patient didn't show up so I saw a nice guy out in the waiting room. He was a newly diagnosed diabetic and when I took his Blood Glucose it was 336! Wow. I wasn't expecting that. So I only took x-rays because he was in pain and he had a periodontal abcess. I felt so bad for him because he was in pain and I could have helped him if it weren't for his blood sugar, which is he trying to get under control but just hasn't yet. Frustrating!
Then I had a tissue check for the lady with the 9mm pocket. It was still the same. Dr. Naylor took a look at it and recommended a new crown or at least a Class 5 restoration due to recurrent decay. She was able to go over to the Midtown side and get that fixed. So at least I was able to help one person today.
