All for the love

Today I saw two patients that I treated for periodontal disease last semester. I was so excited when I saw how healthy their mouths were! Their gums were nice and pink and didn't bleed hardly at all. I was so happy for them. They were both brushing and flossing better and I could really tell. I told them they were doing a great job and to keep up the great work. They also seemed happy to hear that they were doing such a good job and that their brushing and flossing were really paying off! I wish I had some before and after pictures...
I haven't been able to re-treat very many of my patients because we have to get so many requirements and don't have appointments available for re-treatment. So it was so nice to be able to see what a big difference a good cleaning and oral hygiene education can make. I am so glad that I chose to become a hygienist all those years ago and have been able to make that dream come true. I really find a lot of joy and satisfaction in helping people learn about the importance of oral health.
